More Althouse on Schiavo

As yesterday, Ann Althouse has a couple of great posts on the Schiavo case (here and here). I don't always agree with what Prof. Althouse writes on her blog -- sometimes I really disagree -- but these posts are among the most thoughtful treatments I've seen of the case. There is, in my opinion, no good argument that the statute is unconstitutional. But that doesn't mean the statute is a good idea, or that the interests of anyone but some politicians are well served by the process by which the statute was enacted (and the way this family's tragedy has been and is going to be flogged for partisan purposes). For a good introduction to some of the hypocrisy we've seen on this issue, see the Center for American Progress's "Progress Reports" from yesterday and today.
