Texas's Failure to Fund Mental Health Treatment Leaves Hundreds Stranded in Jails
See this article by that title from the San Antonio Current. The article goes a bit off course in suggesting that the problem is that there aren't enough state hospital beds; to my mind, the fundamental problem is a lack of housing, intensive treatment services, and crisis services in the community. Law enforcement and the criminal justice system should not be the entities that respond to a mental health crisis. But the article as a whole is very well done.
