South Carolina Supreme Court Declines to Recognize "Wrongful Life" Doctrine

South Carolina children born with disabilities cannot sue doctors for failing to tell their mothers about those conditions before birth, the state’s top court said Monday.

Jennie Willis of Marion County contends she would have legally aborted her now 8-year-old son, Thomas, had she known when she was pregnant that most of his brain was missing, said her lawyer, O. Fayrell Furr Jr. of Myrtle Beach.
