State Medicaid Watch: Missouri

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch had an article this weekend about the priorities of my home state's newly elected Republican governor, Matt Blunt. The following passage suggests that here, as in other states, budget politics will pit Medicaid and education against one another:

"It's about priorities with existing state revenue, and I believe education ought to be our number one public policy priority and our budget ought to reflect that," Blunt said.

To provide more money for education, lawmakers may be tempted to tighten eligibility limits for Medicaid.
